In each of the lessons the author has attempted to explain man's lawful appropriation of the supplies spiritually and electrically provided by God. When we understand and adjust our mind to the realm or kingdom where these rich ideas and their electrical thought forms exist, we shall experience in our temporal affairs what is called "Prosperity." Born in 1854 on an Indian reservation near St. Cloud, Minnesota, Charles Fillmore spent much of his early life unsuccessfully speculating on real estate and traveling the country seeking a cure for his wife Myrtle's tuberculosis before cofounding the New Thought-based Unity movement with her. Their popular magazine, "Unity," was first published in 1891. The Unity movement eventually oversaw multiple magazines and sponsored publications. Fillmore died in 1948.

About the Author
Charles Fillmore (August 22, 1854 – July 5, 1948) founded Unity, a church within the New Thought movement, with his wife, Myrtle Page Fillmore, in 1889. He became known as an American mystic for his contributions to spiritualist interpretations of biblical Scripture. In 1886, Charles and his wife Myrtle attended New Thought classes held by Dr. E. B. Weeks. Myrtle subsequently recovered from chronic tuberculosis and attributed her recovery to her use of prayer and other methods learned in Weeks's classes. Subsequently Charles began to heal from his childhood accident, a development which he too attributed to following this philosophy. Charles Fillmore became a devoted student of philosophy and religion. In 1889, Charles left his business to focus entirely on a prayer group that would later be called 'Silent Unity'. He and his wife were among the first ordained Unity ministers in 1906.

For those with open and discerning minds

Charles Fillmore and the Unity movement which he co-founded has always urged individual thinking and stayed away from dogmatic beliefs, and as such, don't fit the definition or understanding of "cult". However, his thinking is definitely non-traditional, and I don't recommend his books to fundamentalist, Biblical literalists.
That said, this is definitely a book to read. It's not about material prosperity as such, but about over all prosperity in all areas of life. So if your primary aim to get filthy rich, this isn't for you. But if you are seeking a more fulfilling life, a greater understanding and closeness to the Great Power in our universe, and a mind-expanding, soul-enriching reading experience, I recommend this to you.

Single greatest book on Prosperity

I have read many books on Prosperity. This book pulled it together for me. I am on my 4th time reading it. Prosperity is about quality of life. Since reading this, my income and equity has exceeded in amounts to large to say. My sense of peace and purpose is even larger than that. The book was written so long ago that sometime the language and word usage can be tricky. At the end of each chapter are questions intended to help grasp the concepts. I found this to be helpful. This is a must read.

This book saved my life!

Charles Fillmore knew what he was talking about. I use the prinicples outlined in this book and have gone from being unemployed and unable to pay the utility bill to self-emplolyed with very little debt. This book explains what money is, how it works, and how I can work with it. I AM PROSPEROUS!

Theft of a valuable book.

This book is an excellent work which will benefit anyone.

However, Wilder Publication, which put out this copy, has engaged in copyright theft.

The book was published in 1939 as listed by the copyright office.

It was registered to DeVorss and Company which publishes his works.

The people who put out this edition have done such a sloppy job that they can't even spell the word 'attraction" correctly. See the cover as shown above. They spell it as "attracktion".

They even have the nerve to list it as copyrighted by them in 2009! Thus, they claim below, no one is permitted to even quote from it without their permission.

The DeVorss edition keeps all of the original paragraph numbering and other aspects of the original.

This edition is in tiny type and hard to read. There are numerous typos. The book is filled with other errors.

The book deserves a wide readership but not from pirates who return nothing to the Estate of the author.

Brilliantly Precise

Among the many books, articles, and speakers I've read or listened to that cover the law of attraction, Working with the Law would've been chosen first had I known what I do now---it is by far the most brilliantly precise (and concise) foundation book handling this wonderful subject.

This is not particularly a "How-To" book. Instead, Mr. Holliwell has provided more of a philosophical book that should set the mental springboard necessary to read the other books that any lucky reader will undoubtedly be reading in his or her journey of self-discovery.

It's a quick read, in general, but one will want to ponder the numerous points each short "Law of ..." section provides. In all my books, I highlight and scribble notes in sections that I find most useful. I had a difficult time holding back the pen because much of this well-thought out book deserves to be committed to memory.

I am very pleased that I purchased this book. It is not a book you can, or is meant to be read one time to have a full understanding of the information contained. I have read it 4 times now and get something new out of it each time I read it. I also feel better, calmer and more confident about myself after each reading. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is working on the LAW of ATTRACTION.

Nancy's Secrets to Success

Having recently attended the 2011 New York Business Expo I stumbled onto my very own copy of Don't Hook Up With The Dude In The Next Cube written by woman-preneurs Nancy A. Shenker and Lindsay E. Brown. It's not the normal 'read' I would reach for, but after hearing Nancy speak about the complex world of public relations and how media and journalism have changed branding at an expo that thousands of New Yorkers attended, I wanted to take a peek. I found the topics of approaching a new career empowering and the overall tone of the book was a step by step guide about building healthy work habits for newbies: a pocket guide to surviving the career jungle of sorts.

To be honest, from the name of the cover I didn't want to like the book but the content addressed topics I actually value such as focus in the workplace, how to build quality professional relationships and how to be professional in a number if nerve wrecking professional circumstances. My light bulb really went on, though, with the suggestions about how a woman should go about approaching a mentor. This should make it's way into every female grads congratulations goodie bag. The career secrets for young women in the workplace are spot on.

A Fresh, Funny, and Surprisingly Fantastic Take on the Modern World of Work

This was a refreshing departure from the pedantic professional self-help books that are recommended to today's college graduates. As a recent college graduate myself, this book helped me wade through a sea of resumes, interviews, and job listings-- a task more difficult than one might think given the current economy. The concept of creating a coherent personal brand was new to me, and while I'm skeptical of the terminology, I really liked how thinking about 'branding' helped formulate my thoughts for each specific interview.

Also, I cannot say enough about the approachable and humorous tone of this book. I have met author Nancy Shenker on several occasions and her confidence and rapier-sharp witticisms translate brilliantly onto the page.

Overall, as a recent entrant into the professional field and a chronic overthinker, I would really recommend this book to anyone searching for a job or any young overachiever looking to advance in his or her field.
