Hardcoded Spring.

This is one of the most interesting and difficult book that I've read about Spring. But, with no doubts, very useful.
Spring Boot is the core. The author creates an initial app on it, and follow during all book. Another unique ideas are to replace JSP pages by Themeleft and exclude all xml-configuration files. For the last purpose, he uses java classes with annotations.
Also there is useful case about sessions: what they are in Spring and how you can configure them easily and safe this kind of user data in external storage (for example, Redis).

The main project of the book is about creating a search app, that can search tweets through Spring Social API. In around 20 classes you do all the spring basics, include Rеst API and Security. Also you can find definitions about Java 8 Time API, Swagger UI and contemporary thoughts about front end development.
There is a chapter that explains how to do request optimizing through different tools, but I think it's too short to describe that subject in a good manner. Author doesn't split the source code in order of appearance.

I have participated to the review and, as I have written in the preface, this book may well be the best book that's been written so far on Spring MVC. The quality of the draft edition was simply amazing. I can talk honestly because I have already helped in reviewing a few other books, for PackT but also for Manning. I'm pretty sure you won't regret buying it. My comment here is truly sincere: my participation on this book is completely over.

Returned after reading the first chapter

This is the first programming book that I was not able to get the program in the first chapter to run. I tried to use the tools that were recommended in the book, but I found the author's instructions lacking. After hours of googling and searching forums for answers I gave up.

Timely, Thoughtful, and often very funny!

"The Wedding of Zein" actually includes three separate stories, all set in pleasant, rural, Muslim villages of the Sudan, in Africa. The book is named after one of the stories. The other two are called "The Doum Tree of Wad Hamid," and "A Handful of Dates." Each tale has the universal feel of a fable -- the wisdom they encode in their simple language can speak to anyone, anywhere, anytime. The Muslim characters have a few traits which could seem odd to Western readers, but basically they are just like small town folks all over the world. They walk with dignity, they live in peace amidst old friends and loved ones, and they cherish their own dreams of love and happiness.
The title story is my favorite. Zein is sort of a "holy fool" in his little village. He is not exactly retarded, or crazy, but is clearly eccentric. He seems to promote laughter and good feelings wherever he goes, although sometimes this is at his own expense. Many of the villagers laugh at him. All of the villagers laugh with him. Zein seems unaware that there could be a distinction between these groups of people, and, perhaps, therein lies his potential for healing... He is betrothed to the beautiful, solemn, almond-eyed Ni'ma, before whom he has NEVER made a fool of himself. She, and she alone, holds this honor... Their courtship, and the impact it has upon the village, comprises a highly provocative, and ultimately warm, view into human nature. You won't forget this comedic, yet highly serious, love story.
Taken together, these stories really got me thinking about what it's like to live in an average Muslim village. It makes me want to know these people better, they're nice people, just like anyone else.

Tayib Salih is recognized in the Arab World as one of the most exciting of today's Arabic writers. He writes in the one language understood by all Sudanese - Sudanese Arabic. Here is a short novel, The Wedding of Zein, and two short stories. Salih displays a timelessness, humanity and hunor that had led many to hail him as the current genius of ARabic literature.

Teachers/Librarians: 9th grade and up. Social Studies/Humanities.

World Literature teachers: this work represents not only Arabic literature of the Middle East but also African literature, as the Sudan is that cross-over nation of both North African and Sub-Saharan Africa. Delightful tales for little children

These nine short stories by nine-years-old author Arohi Patel are delightful.Written for small children, they are what I call “teaching stories,” lessons about living that are so important. Read the to your little children as they are going to sleep. The author is an excellent story teller. Her 13 year old sister, Adwaita, who illustrates each story, is a wonderful artist, too. Together, they have created a wonderful book that I highly recommend.

The stories are well written, sweet and very educational. Every story is a reminder of basic concepts of humanity: to care, to love, and to respect.

Used at Western Washington University in 2010. If corporate finance is interesting to you, you will probably like this book. If the words "corporate finance" put you to sleep, you will probably not like this book. I tend toward the sleepy side of that spectrum, so this book was just 'meh' to me - but it did explain the material and help me pass the class, so I can't fault it too much.

I have always enjoyed photography and have had various serious cameras over the past decade or so. I now have a bit more time to spend on my hobby and found (as opposed to actively seeking) this book. I found it a gem. While there is a lot of material for those new to photography (particularly DSLRs), I've enjoyed reading the book while re-familiarising myself with my camera. The real bonus was the 50 plus assignments that the author has incorporated into the book (including one doing pinhole work with your DSLR and various others on compositional development and camera techniques). For the price I found it a steal and must have. Enjoy

Thomas Noulis is staff RFMS engineer at Intel Corp., in the Mobile & Communications Group in Munich, Germany. Between 2004 and 2010, he also collaborated with numerous universities and technical institutes as visiting-adjunct professor. Dr. Noulis has more than 30 publications in journals, conferences, and book chapters. He holds one French and one world patent. His work has received more than 50 citations. He is an active reviewer of international journals and has given multiple invited presentations. In addition, his research activity has been awarded by various conferences and research organizations.
